Reality and Fantasy of Size
Fun facts applied to fiction and playing with numbers. Just jotting myself a note for MonBuilder
Tallest human on record = 8'11.1" (confirmed) 107.1
Shortest = 21.5" (confirmed)
Math Avg 5.35’ 64.3 or more practically 5’~ 6’
So much of our life is affected by our height, our reach, our propensity for bumping our noggins on chandeliers. And of coarse these numbers can never cover the concept of ‘real’ averages or separation by gender and are assumed to all be mature adult measurements. And it is safe to presume that the further away one gets from average in either direction, the greater the impact on individual health and deformity.
BUT, fantasy, fiction! It is always more fun i think to imagine beyond the average or the typical, and entertain the extreme possibilities and skip arguments about probability.
Pixie .5’~1.25-1.5~2.25’
Nekomata .5’~2-4~6’
Halfling 1’~2.5-3~4.5’
Dwarf 2’~3-4~5.5’
Human 2’~5-6~9’
Elf 3’~6-7~10’
Orc 4’~7-8~11’
Troll 5’~8-9~12’
Giant 4’~10-12~18’
Titan 8’~20-24~36’
Faeries the size of your hand and Titans bigger than a house, these are easy and commonly depicted as fantasy staples. BUt what about the dwarf that is a giant amongst their people or the giant shorter than an average human. Imagine what they could be like!
